What Are the Duties of a Toastmaster at a Wedding?
The basic job of a wedding toastmaster is being the eyes, ears and spokesperson of the bride and groom. "Eyes and ears! What do you mean?" Mainly, the bride and groom should be enjoying the day so much that they overlook that there are things that require being checked to ensure that the wedding day is keeping on schedule.
For a case in point, when the bride and groom are getting married in the church or civil venue, the toastmaster will be at the reception venue making for certain that it is all set to receive the newly weds and their guests. The cloak rooms are open, the red carpet is out, the bubbly is being chilled, canopies are all set, the table plan in place and all the name cards in the correct places and all of the venue is prepared to meet the recently married couple.
The toastmaster will receive the bride and groom on their arrival and notify the guests where the cloak rooms and toilets are and where the wedding breakfast will happen, plus added amenities within the venue. Popularly, just before the wedding breakfast, the Master of Ceremonies will conduct a receiving line, wherein all the guests are presented by the Master of Ceremonies to the bride and groom and their parents.
Through the wedding, the toastmaster will be helping the wedding photographer, this is very important when it comes to the group photos; helping to uncover the right family members. When the wedding breakfast is ready, the toastmaster will brief all the guests to make their way to the dining room and to sit down and wait for the arrival of the bride and groom. When the bride and groom are ready to go into the dining room, the toastmaster will declare to the guests to stand, give a standing ovation and cheer the recently married couple and direct them to the top table.
The speeches are conventionally left to the end of the wedding breakfast, yet, they have been known to occur before and even during the wedding breakfast. The toastmaster presents each one of the speakers. The customary order for the speeches is Father of the Bride, followed by the Groom, and last, but no way least, is the Best Man.
If the wedding toastmaster's duties are to carry on beyond the speeches, they would then proclaim the cutting of the wedding cake. As soon as the toastmaster has announced the cutting of the cake, he will aim and ensure that the guests are in a location to be able to get photos of the newly weds cutting the wedding cake. The next main part of the reception is the First Dance.
Instead of only shuffling all over the place, the newly weds are expected to perform for the First Dance. Making their First Dance more of a demonstration and memorable for their guests. You just need watch YouTube! Only when the guests have joined them on the dance floor, can the toastmaster be aware of that their job is finished. However, an instance when the toastmaster may well be asked to stay on, is if the bride and groom leave the reception venue in a helicopter. In which case, the they would ask everyone to go out side.
The duties of a wedding toastmaster are two fold. First, to make certain that the wedding runs effortlessly and to a fixed format, and secondly, that the bride and groom have nothing whatever to fear.
Employing a toastmaster for your event or party, whether that be a wedding or banquet, not only ensures that it will effortlessly and to schedule, but also adds some class. This is due to the toastmaster's uniform, the red tail coat, white waistcoat and starched white shirt with bow tie.
The toastmaster is there as somebody in authority, but also as a friend of the guests, who knows where things are, what is about to go on and can make the correct introductions. Also, the toastmaster would recognize the culture and the protocol of the specific wedding. So the allure is reassurance and refinement.
Summation of a Wedding Toastmaster's Duties
To sum up, a toastmaster brings peace of mind to a wedding. The wedding toastmaster is more or less like an insurance policy against all the added monies that have been layed out for the wedding, a case in point, the champagne and wine, the wedding breakfast, the DJ or band. As well as the peace of mind aspect, the toastmaster is at the wedding to ensure that each element, however trivial, is in the correct place and acting as it should be. So this is rather critical is it not?
Peace of mind for the bride and groom is the absolute factor. So that they can relish the wedding day, solely concentrate on their celebration and not have to fear things that may possibly go wrong. Being aware that the toastmaster will take care of everything. And with that the toastmaster can leave being aware that they have made a large donation towards that day, a day that the happy couple will by no means forget.
